INTRODUCTION TO HARKANY


Is a small town in Baranya county in the southwestern part of the land. It lies at the foot of Villányi Mountain, in the valley of river Dráva. There is sulphuric medicinal water suitable for the treatment of all locomotive organs and joints diseases, thraumatological treatment, psoriasis, gynecological problems, inflammatory diseases and sterility.


Spa

Harkány is one of the most famous spas in Hungary. It is a modern, comfortable spa with different kinds of indoor and outdoor pools. Besides the medicinal water different kinds of wellness and therapeutic treatments are also available. The bath offers permanent 26-33 °C warm water in the summer and 33-35 °C warm water in the winter in the swimming-pools. Its sulphur, sulphide and carbolic sulphide content and its healing power is unique in all Europe. The water cures rheumatism, it is good for after treatment of locomotor disorders, gout, muscle paralysis deriving from rheumatic troubles, bony system diseases, chronic skin affection and gynaecological problems. As a drinking cure is the water designed for healing of catarrh of digestive system and also in case of gallbladder and liver diseases. There are Spa, Wellness Bath, two open-air pools with warm and cool water, a children´s pool, 3 medicinal and 5 swimming pools, a great water slide and park with statue of St. Steven in the spa area.

HOW TO GET THERE


Harkány is situated near the Croatian border. It is 25 km far away from Pécs, on the main – road No. 58.

Wine

Because of its ideal mediterranean climate the town is a member of the "Wine Road Siklós-Villány". There are a lot of wine cellars situated on the southern slopes of Tenkes hill where countrymen grow red and white wine. The most popular are "Devill-Blood"(red wine) and the "Tear of Harka" (white wine).
